
66th PSU session on December 27
Kohima, December 22 (MExN): The Phek Students’ Union (PSU) will hold its 66th session cum seminar on December 27 at Phek village under the theme “Shaping the future: Trends and insights for tomorrow.” Chetezo Akami, Deputy Chairman, Phek Town Council will be the inaugural speaker while Dr. Muluvesalu Keyho, Asst, Prof (Law) RRU, Pasighat Campus, Arunachal Pradesh and Dr. Kuveluzo Chizo, Medical Officer MBBS, Eden Medical Centre will be the resource persons. PSU president Dzuthoku Venuh will deliver welcome address while greetings will be shared by Chivozo Soho, chairman Phek Village Council.
PDSCA extend Christmas greetings
Phek, December 22 (MExN): The Phek District Senior Citizens' Association (PDSCA) extended Christmas and New Year greetings to all the believers. PDSCA General Secretary Vekhapu Rhakho appealed all believers to be hospitable and have faith and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ so as to receive the abundant blessings. The PDSCA wished all the believers a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2025.
CAYO condemns
Chumoukedima, December 22 (MExN): The Chumoukedima Ao Youth Organization (CALT) has condemned the harassment and forceful extortion demand of Rupees 50 lakh made by the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) on one Aolemba Lkr on December 16. Aolemba Lkr, a bona fide member of 7th Mile Chumoukedima and an active member of CALT, also serves as the Chairman of the Country Craft Development Society. CALT lodged an FIR on this matter at the Chumoukedima Police Station on December 17, 2024, and has been awaiting progress on the arrest of the culprits responsible for this extortion demand. However, there has been no substantial action taken so far, a press release from the CALT said. The organization urged the concerned authorities to expedite the arrest of the perpetrators and ensure the safety of its members.
NPCC mourns
Kohima, December 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) expressed deepest condolences on the passing away of T. Tingyeih Konyak, a committed Congressman who held prominent positions in the party including President of the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC), President of the District Congress Committee (DCC), Mon and Vice-President, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), during the course of his stellar political career. “His invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to the Congress party and the people of Nagaland will always be remembered with great respect,” stated S Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament (LS) and President NPCC. May his soul rest in eternal peace, Jamir stated in a condolence message.
Minister CL John condoles
Kohima, December 22 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Village Guards, CL John, has expressed sorrow at the passing of Tingnyeih Konyak, a prominent leader of the Konyak community, who died on December 20, after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, the Minister described the late Tingnyeih Konyak as a distinguished and active pioneer of the Konyak community. He served as the former chairman of the Mon Town Council and was an executive council member of the Konyak Union at the time of his demise.
Highlighting his contributions, John noted Tingnyeih’s dedication to various non-governmental organizations and political parties, where he held multiple roles. He was recognized as a sincere, hardworking, and competent public leader, whose wisdom and integrity left a lasting impact.
"His passing creates a vacuum that will be difficult to fill," John remarked, adding that Tingnyeih’s voluntary service to society would be fondly remembered by all.
