
DC Noklak removes prohibitory orders
Noklak, February 22 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, K Mhathung Tsanglao in an order issued on February 22 lifted Restrictions Imposed u/s 144 CrPC. DC stated that reasonable restrictions were imposed under section 144 CrPC within the limits of Thonoknyu Headquarters and a perimeter of 200 meters around the town vide Order No. DC/NLK/JUD-2/2020-21/ Dated Noklak on February 20 as a precautionary measure to prevent the breach of peace and public tranquillity. Keeping in view the normalcy in the law and order situation, the prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC has been removed with immediate effect, DC stated.
Notun Bosti Council not to allow outsiders or bogus voters
Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming general election to the Nagaland State Legislative Assembly on February 27, the Notun Bosti Council, Dimapur has resolved that only genuine voters will be allowed to cast vote and outsiders/bogus voters will not be allowed to cast vote.
Notun Bosti Council (NBC) Chairman, Imkongnukshi Imchen and Secretary, Kavito Ayemi in a press release stated that the council executive committee during its meeting held on February 11 last unanimously resolved to maintain peaceful atmosphere within its colony jurisdiction during election. No political parties will be allowed to organise youth camp within Notun Bosti jurisdiction, it stated.
The council also resolved to take stern action against any person creating unnecessary disturbance within the colony under the influence of alcohol or illegal substance. It also resolved that senior citizens and Person with Disability (PwD) will be given “voting preference/privilege.”
Meanwhile, it also welcomed ‘any candidate who is willing to express their party manifesto.’
DDCF urges to maintain peace
Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) has urged to maintain peace and avoid violence especially during the election and to uphold the democracy in the truest sense of the term. DDCF through its Media Cell also urged the participating parties to not use any unfair means but let the process of election be held in a clean and democratic manner. While expressing sadness and resentment over the recent election related incidences in and around Dimapur, DDCF wished all its citizens ‘the very best and not to fall prey to any enticements or give in to the pressure while exercising their franchise, this election.’
CEO Nagaland invites participationfor essay, video competitions
Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland will organise essay writing and video making competitions as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme in connection with the upcoming 14th General Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2023 on the topic ‘My opinion of Elections in Nagaland.’
The essay should be comprised of 1500-2000 words and the video should be 3-5 minutes in duration. Entries should be submitted to ceonagaland.itcell@gmail.com on or before February 24 by 6:00 pm.
Heads of all schools (government/private) functioning within the State of Nagaland have been advised to encourage students from their institutions to participate in the competitions as part of the (SVEEP) programme. Winners will be selected from each category and awarded certificates and cash prizes. All the videos and essays will be uploaded to the Chief Electoral Officer’s website and social media handles for wide publicity.
