Kohima DC calls meeting with NGOs

Kohima, January 11 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant has convened a meeting with the NGOs on January 17 at 11:00 am in the DC's Conference Hall, Kohima to discuss visitation of Homes/Institutions by NGOs during the 75th Republic Day Celebration at Kohima on January 26. The following NGOs presidents under Kohima district have been requested to make it convenient to attend the meeting positively: Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union, Pulie Badze Club, Lions Club, Royal Club, Classic Club, Rotary Club, Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima, Hindu Kalyan Samithi Kohima, Indian Red Cross Nagaland State Branch and Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industries.

OSTD general meeting on Jan 13

Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The 52nd general meeting of Ongpangkong Senso Telongjem Dimapur (OSTD) will be held on January 13 at the treasure’s residence, Duncan Bosti at 10:00 am. OSTD General Secretary, Nungshimeren Kichu through a press release has invited all the OSTD members to the meeting. 

Yung Aung led NSCN (K) condemns

Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) condemned the Indian security forces stationed at Nampong outpost, under Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh for allegedly sending “strike-drones across the Pangsau border” and randomly dropping “drop bombs in the surrounding areas” on January 7. 
Fortunately, no civilians were hurt in the attack, stated a press release from MIP, Yung Aung led NSCN (K). Calling it “destructive intentions to cause harm and disturbance in a highly populated area,” the MIP release asserted that such action should be “condemned in a strongest term by one and all.”
It further maintained that such action would “only create unwanted situation in this part of the Naga area” and stated that Naga army would “respond appropriately” if such future attack posing serious threat to innocent lives, occurs in the future.

Tenyimi Union Dimapur condoles

Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The The Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) has mourned the the demise of Dr Saheni Loli, the former president of Mao Council.
His contributions towards the Tenyimi family in particular and the Nagas in general will always be remembered and cherished, the TUD said in a condolence note, terming him as a  true son of the soil.
Late Dr Loli’s yeoman services towards education and social justice for the entire Nagas would be a void hard to fill. Nagas has lost a patriotic leader and one only hopes that the younger generations emulates his great qualities, it added.
The TUD further conveyed its condolences to all the loved ones he leaves behind and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

NNC (Parent Body) convenes CEC meeting

Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) has called for a meeting of its Central Executive Council (CEC) on January 19 and has stressed for mandatory attendance of all Executive members. The meeting will “discuss and deliberate on political issues confronting us at this juncture,” informed a press release from the Information & Publicity Wing, NNC (Parent Body), requesting all the Executive members, representatives of the regional councils and all the officials to attend the meeting positively for the interest of all concerned.  Officials and members were further informed to contact the Central office for further queries and details.

Celebrate Gaan-Ngai in restrain manner: ZU (AMN)

Imphal, January 11 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) and Zeliangrong Cultural Council (ZCC) have appealed all the Zeliangrong community living in Manipur to celebrate Gaan-Ngai in the “restrain manner in view of the volatile situation and imposing of night curfew in the valley district.” Chakan Gaan-Ngai, the biggest festival of Zeliangrong community falls on January 23.  As a mark of sharing pain with those families who lost their loved and dear ones in the ethnic conflict , a press release from ZU (AMN) General Secretary Pantijai Newmei urged the village authorities to avoid performing of folk dance, and songs, beating of traditional drum, noisy clamour and any entertainment  activities  associated with  the festival. Instead, it called for performing of “ritual and customary activities of the festival to our Almighty God Haipou Tingkao Ragwang and other lower realm gods for the well being and prosperity of the village community.”
