GPRN/NSCN terminates 3 from ‘active service’

Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN in an order issued by GSO-I (Adm.), General Headquarters, Naga Army, has terminated three cadres from “active service of Naga Army on account of Anti-national activities and breach of Naga Army Disciplinary Code.”

A press release from MIP, GPRN/NSCN informed  that the cadres were 2nd Lieut. L Popai, A/No. 15657 of Yangkhao village, Konyak Region; Sgt. Kiheto, A/No. 17596 of  Toshiho village, Union Territory Region;  and Pvt Akhevi A/No. 20643 of Thakiye village, Sumi Region.

“Henceforth, membership of the said cadres in the Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN shall cease to be validated and effectively bear no liability,” it added. 

Thenucho mourns Kikon’s demise

Kohima, July 26 (MExN): Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) former speaker Thenucho Tunyi mourned the demise of T Kikon, an Ex-Interim Body Member (IBM) and a former minister of Nagaland.

“Kikon was a soft spoken man with a simple attitude towards life. A man of few words, he was well regarded for his grounded and refined thinking,” Thenucho stated in a condolence message adding that Kikon had a deep love and concern for the Naga people.

He was a staunch regionalist and dedicated his life to protect and preserve Naga culture, traditions and our unique identity. A pioneer of Naga statehood, he firmly believed and worked towards equity in terms of development and progress for all, he said.

“A God fearing man exemplified by the way he lead his life, he leaves behind a legacy of simplicity and integrity. Today in his death, we have lost a true Naga patriot and a strong pillar of regional party in Nagaland,” he added.
