Activities restricted in Kohima Local Ground 

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS in an order stated that the Kohima Local Ground (Khouchiezie), where swabs for COVID-19 testing is currently being collected, is restricted for conduct of all other activities. DC therefore informed all concerned that any person found loitering/engaging in any activity other than COVID-19 testing in the aforementioned location will be liable to penalty as per provision of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Gov brings Tsüngremong greetings 

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): On the occasion of Tsüngremong festival, Governor RN Ravi extended warm “Tsüngremong greetings to my Ao brothers and sisters and to the people of Nagaland.” Tsungremong is traditionally celebrated by the Ao people to reinforce their bond of brotherhood and also thanks giving to the God for a bountiful harvest. This centuries old tradition is a priceless cultural heritage of the Ao people. “I urge upon the community specially the youth to imbibe and propagate the values of brotherhood inherent in their festival. I urge the people to celebrate this beautiful festival observing COVID-19 protocols,” the Governor stated and also wished all good health, happiness and prosperity. 

IMFL concealed under bags of potatoes seized 

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Dimapur Excise duty party manning Dillai check gate on Friday around 7:00 pm based on specific information, intercepted a vehicle (12 wheeler Truck) bearing Regd. No. NL 01 A E2678 bound for Imphal, Manipur. On frisking the vehicle the duty party recovered 695 cases of assorted IMFL concealed under bags of potatoes, T Arilong Longkumer, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur informed in a press release. In this connection, one Bamsa Singh (38) R/o Golaghat, Assam was arrested and booked under the relevant section of the NLTP Act 89. “The case is presently under investigation,” Longkumer stated. The Dimapur Excise team was led by Allen Jami AIE, TK Medom lady H/Constable, Khekavi H/Constable, Constables Akahoto, Thejong, Khalenthong, Tsathongli, Thrilise, Mathna, and Lady Constable Sorila.
                                   
Kohima police seizes marijuana 

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): Highway Patrol Party of Kohima Police intercepted one Maruti Gypsy (White Colour) without number plate/documents and seized marijuana (ganja) about 218 Kgs, 24 neatly packed in covered black mica of which 19 packets in big size and five packets in small size at Peducha area during the wee hours of July 31. In this connection, PRO Kohima in an update stated that two persons namely Feles Kholi (28) and NG Tarsus Khaisü, both from Manipur were arrested for illegal transportation of the seized items. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Sechü (Zubza) Police Station for further investigation. 

NSCN (IM) mourns 

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has grieved the demise of 2nd Lieutenant Moses Chithung of Shongshen Battalion, Naga Army on July 30. Chithung who hailed from Kangpat village under Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) enrolled in the Naga national service on February 20, 2001. He served the Naga nation with unwavering patriotism until his demise. The void created by his demise is deeply felt and would be difficult to fill in. For his selfless contributions to the Naga national cause, his name shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history and he shall be remembered for all time to come. “The Adjutant General of the Naga Army has bestowed upon him posthumously the rank of Lieutenant on the 30th July, 2021 in recognition of his service to the Naga nation,” the MIP of NSCN (IM) stated while conveying deep condolences to the bereaved family members.
