
In Changtongya, ‘Janbhagidar/people’s participation for better outcome programme was held at Bridges Academy Changtongya with SDO(C) Changtongya, C Wangan as special guest on June 7. Office of CMO, Kohima along with District Health Society, NHM launched Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at Porterlane UPHC on June 5. In the programme, Dr Imchatoshi, Dy CMO cited that prevalence of Diarrhoea “still high” in places like Dimapur and Kohima. HCMC Chairman, Dr Sweyievisa John and assured to carry out all activities timely. Dr Khrievilhou, DPO (RCH/UIP) said that Diarrhoea still high in India below five years of age. He cited that ORS & Zinc combination has decreased the deaths of 0-5 years diarrhoea cases. In this regard, availability of ORS & Zinc is very important which will prevent and control diarrhoea, also informed about the Home preparation of ORS.

Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) was launched by Dr Thunchangpeni Patton, District Immunization Officer Wokha at CMO Conference Hall Wokha on June 5. Speaking at the launching programme, Dr. Patton urged the Accredited Social Health Activists to work together with anganwadi workers for distribution of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), Zinc tablets and sensitization on personal hygiene. She encouraged the health workers to demonstrate the steps of handwashing, setting up of ORS corner at health centres and preparation of ORS during Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Days. The programme was attended by medical staffs and Urban ASHAs of Wokha district.

District Health Society (DHS) Zunheboto launched Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at Government Middle School, Old Town Zunheboto and across all health units in the district on June 5. Dr K Akaho Sema, Dy CMO Zunheboto launched the programme. He gave an overview on IDCF which will commence from June 5 till 17 across all health units in the district. Dr Atoikali Medical Officer (MMU) Zunheboto demonstrated home based ORS preparation to the participants. Dr C Zhekheli Chishi, District Epidemiologist demonstrated the different techniques of hand washing to the students. During the fortnight, availability of ORS and Zinc to be distributed to children along with their mothers/care-givers suffering from diarrhoea, demonstration on preparation of homemade ORS and awareness on prevention of diarrhoea to parents/caregivers at all health units.

KVK Peren, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie organized skilled training on ‘Piggery Rearing and Management with Special Reference to Artificial Insemination for Promotion of Pig Breeding & Quality Piglet Production’ from May 22 to 26. The training programme was sponsored under TSP, stated a press release issued by KVK Peren. Certificates and veterinary medicines like mineral mixture, vitamin & Iron supplement, potash etc were also distributed to the participants.

Ongpangkong South Block of Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Mokokchung conducted a training programme on ‘Practice of Crop Diversification’ at Khensa village on June 5. The resource person Bendangkumzuk, BTM highlighted on the importance of crop diversification, its different types and how it can generate higher income by adopting new approach and methodology in agricultural production. The programme ended with discussion and interaction session followed by distribution of seeds (Soyabean, pole beans, okra, sponge gourd, tomato, coriander, long yard beans) and neem oil. Altogether 30 farmers attended the programme along with ATMA staffs.
