Yimkhiung Women Org appeal

Kohima, June 6 (MExN): While appreciating the concerned authority for suspension of Reny Wilfrey, IAS, the Yimkhiung Women Organisation (YWO) at the same time expressed “apprehensive of as to how the matter is prolonging to prosecute the guilty person.” The suspension order itself is enough evidence to prove him guilty for his shameful act, stated YWO president and appealed the concern authority and law enforcing agency to accelerate the matter in dispensing justice to the victims irrespective of his position, in all fairness “lest letting him go unpunished shall become bad precedence in the society.”

Old Jalukie Village Council banishes man for alleged attempted rape

JALUKIE, JUNE 6 (MExN): The Old Jalukie Village Council district has banished a man for three years following allegations that he attempted to rape a 14-year-old girl on May 31. In a resolution passed during a special meeting held on June 5, the Council declared that the accused is prohibited from entering or residing in the village or participating in any social, cultural, or religious gatherings during the period of banishment. The council condemned the incident as a serious violation of customary ethics and communal values, stating that it constituted a grave threat to the safety and dignity of the victim and disrupted the moral order of the community. “In alignment with our customary law, which prioritizes the protection of women and children, this decision is both punitive and corrective,” the council stated. The council expressed full support for the victim and her family, assuring them that the community stands with them in their recovery.

NSCN/GPRN (Akato) terminates one

Dimapur, June 6 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato) terminated lance corporal Vipito “for his habitual offense in substance abuse despite being served with repeated warnings.” The MIP of NSCN/GPRN (Akato) in a press release stated that “the order was signed and dated by the GSO -1 (Admin) of Naga Army, Brig.Jack Chophi and comes into immediate effect.”

JPMO condemns attempted rape

JALUKIE, JUNE 6 (MExN): The Jalukie Pumling Mipui Organisation (JPMO) has expressed absolute condemnation of the attempted rape of a 14-year-old minor girl on May 31 at Old Jalukie Sector B village. A press release from the JPMO said that “this vile and reprehensible act is a shameful betrayal of our shared humanity and a direct assault on the dignity, safety, and innocence of a child. It has inflicted deep pain not only upon the survivor and her family but upon the conscience of every right-thinking member of society.” It said that the JPMO stands in absolute solidarity with the survivor and her family, and “assert with clarity and conviction that there can be no space in our society for such evil.” “This press release stands as a solemn declaration that Jalukie Pumling Mipui Organisation will never tolerate such acts, never ignore such pain, and never stop demanding justice. Let this serve as a line drawn firm and final. We condemn. We grieve. We will not forget,” it added.

Id-ul-Zuha greetings

Kohima, June 6 (MExN): On the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha (Eid al-Adha), La Ganesan, Governor of Nagaland extended greetings and best wishes to all members of the Muslim community and the people of the state. DC Zunheboto bans heavy vehicles on bailey bridge

Zunheboto, June 6 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Dharam Raj (IAS) through an order informed the general public that, movement of heavy loaded vehicle above 8 Tonnes at Bailey Bridge of 50 FT SSBB at Km 13.900 (Hurki Nallah/Oriki Bridge) from Zunheboto to Aghunato-Kiphire Road, is prohibited due to the weak/deteriorating condition of the said bridge for safety and preventive measures. Any vehicle plying on the above bridge beyond the restricted load limit will be penalized. The order takes effect from May 31 till further order.

Sanitization training on online ILP in Tuensang

Tuensang, June 6 (MExN): Sanitization training on online Inner Line Permit (ILP) was held at DC conference hall, Tuensang on June 4. Er Vinho Swu, EAC (P) and Shekhozo Vero, EAC (P) gave a brief introduction and training on implementation of the online ILP issuance in Tuensang District at the programme, stated a DIPR report. The programme was attended by stakeholders from Tuensang Town All Wards Union, Tuensang Commerce of Chambers, Gorkha Union, Muslim Community, Hindu Community, All Nagaland Private School Association and Government School Association Tuensang. The programme was chaired by Dr Zujanbeni N Ngulli and moderated by DC Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa.
