AASU 4th Union Assembly meeting rescheduled

Kohima, March 6 (MExN): All the unit representative, advisors and former leaders of Aghünaqa Area Students' Union (AASU) have been notified that the 4th Union Assembly meeting is postponed and rescheduled on March 8 at the Banker (UNB-B Sümi Ssa) from 1:00 am onwards. AASU Assembly Secretary Obed Awomi in a press release said that the office of Union Assembly AASU “deeply regrets for the inconvenience caused to you all.” 

BJP Nagaland welcome Modi, Shah, Nadda

Kohima, March 6 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland state has extended its “warm accord and heartily welcome” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister for Home Affairs & Cooperation Amit Shah and National President JP Nadda who will be arriving in Nagaland for the 'Swearing-in Ceremony' of Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, on March 7 at Capital Cultural Hall Kohima. The Central leaders’ visit is necessitated to oversee the oath taking ceremony and the subsequent formation of the new Government of the Alliance partnership where NDPP bagged 25 seats and BJP has retained 12 seats in the recently concluded state assembly election, state media cell, BJP Nagaland stated in a press release.

NMA applaud women candidates  

Kohima, March 6 (MExN): The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has feted Salhoutuonuo Kruse and Hekani Jakhalu Kense for their victorious win and creating history of having women entering the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. “The NMA believes that the NDPP will honour these two strong women by including them into the important ministry of the alliance government,” NMA stated in a press release. The associated also congratulated Er Kahuli Sema and Rosy Thomson for the tough battle as candidates of the recent election in Nagaland. NMA wished all of them “the very best in their political future and expect them to shine as fine examples for younger women to follow.” 

One unidentified body recovered

Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): One unidentified person (non-local) age around 35-40 years (approx.) was found lying dead opposite to Army Camp, Dimapur. Giving an account on this case, Dy Commissioner of Police (Crime) & PRO, Dimapur said that on March 5 at around 12:30 pm, a telephonic call was received at East Police Station, Dimapur from GB Chakhesang colony Dimapur, that one unidentified person was found lying dead opposite to Army Camp, Dimapur. Accordingly basing on the information, the duty party rushed to the PO site and conducted inquest over the dead body. No foul play could be established. On completion of all legal formalities the dead body has been shifted to District Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination and detail identification of the dead body, the PRO Stated. Claimant/relatives/friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the Officer-in-Charge, East Police Station, Dimapur: 7085055020.

INTCWS wishes students 

Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): The India Northeast Tribal Community Welfare Society (INTCWS) under its education wing Libra Consultancy, Notun Bosti, Dimapur has conveyed ‘best wishes’ to all the students appearing for their HSLC and HSLC examinations 2023. The society in a press release issued by its chairman Atsei Sekhose advised the students to take the exam in a fair and honest manner without indulging in any sort of malpractice.  

IGAR (North) holds awareness lecture

Jalukie, March 6 (MExN): Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) conducted an awareness lecture for villagers under Peren district on March 4. The AR personnel along village authorities organised an awareness lecture for villagers of Phaijol with an aim to ‘conserve the nature, wildlife protection and ecological balance.’ A press release stated that the lecture included topics like ill effects of deforestation vis a vis planting trees, reducing usage of fossil fuels, adopting greener methods of transport and help sustain global warming. The AR also conducted a health awareness event on World Obesity Day (March 4) at NTU village with an aim to educate people about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
