EVMs, VVPATs dispatched for Tapi Bye-Poll

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 6 (MExN): The dispatching of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) devices to the first polling team for the Bye Election of 43 Tapi Assembly Constituency in Mon took place on November 6. The event was conducted in the presence of several distinguished individuals, including General Observer MG Rajamaniackam IAS, Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer Ajit Kumar Verma IAS, Superintendent of Police Mon Shiluwabang I Longkumer, and Rongsenmenla, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) & Returning Officer of 43 Tapi AC Mon.

ANTA Dimapur terminates one

Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Dimapur Unit has informed all the concerned authority and ANTA in general that Ghunato Chophy, Finance Secretary, ANTA Dimapur Unit has been terminated for a period of 10 years as per ANTA Constitution Article-22 Clause 1 and V, for “failing to attend the ANTA Dimapur Unit office for more than two years and also indulging in anti ANTA activities.” Therefore, the ANTA Dimapur Unit in an order has cautioned any members indulging in any such anti ANTA activities will be dealt sternly as per the constitution of ANTA. 

Dy CM Patton greets on Tokhü Emong

Kohima, November 6 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton has greeted the Lotha community on their premier festival Tokhü Emong. Patton said that the festival held after a hard earned harvest, dwelled on the spirit of unity, reconciliation and forgiveness. “This is also a time to showcase the rich cultural heritage of our forefathers by partaking in it,” he added. On behalf of the state BJP legislators, and on his own behalf, the Dy CM and BLP leader, Nagaland wished the Lotha community a very happy Tokhü Emong and pray that it is celebrated in the true spirit of the festival.

NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) greets on Tokhu Emong

Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) has conveyed greetings on the occasion of Tokhu Emong of the Lotha Nagas which is the primary festival of the Lotha tribe and is a post harvest festival. Tokhu in Lotha means ‘feast’ and Emong means 'rest' which is celebrated to signify the end of harvest season and the people rejuvenate themselves after a tremendous hard work in the fields. “The Lothas are one of the advanced Naga tribe who are known for their hard work, dedication and sincerity and the NSCN is optimistic that with these qualities, our Lotha brothers and sisters will continue to shine and an inspiration to others,’ the MIP of NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) stated in a press note.

NCD appeals for black topping of road to new Naga cemetery Dimapur

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 6 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has appealed to the concerned department for black topping of the road to the new Naga cemetery in Dimapur. A press release from the NCD said that it has appealed a number of times for construction of black-top road from the main road to the new Naga Cemetery, Zani Village, and Dimapur. It said that the road has remained in deplorable condition from the time of commissioning the cemetery in 2017. Since then, vehicles carrying the dead and the escorting vehicles have to go through almost knee-reaching muddy road during rainy season, it added. The NCD acknowledged Advisor for Industries and Commerce, Hekhani Jakhalu Kense for taking up construction of granular sub-base of the road “from her own financial source.” It now appealed to the concerned department to complete the road with pucca black-topping standard for all seasons. 

One arrested with 110 soap cases of suspected heroin

Kohima, November 6 (MExN): During a routine checking of vehicles, personnel of Khuzama Police check gate detected and recovered 110 soap cases of suspected heroin weighing approximately 1560 gms on November 5. The seized items were concealed in a dumper truck coming from the neighbouring state of Manipur, PRO Kohima Police informed in a press release. One person namely Md. Shahjahan (27) was arrested in this connection.

Passes for 14th NLA Third Session (Emergent Session)

Kohima, November 6 (MExN): In view of the Third Session (Emergent Session) of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly to be held on November 9, Car Passes and Official Gallery Passes will be issued on November 8 during the regular Office hours from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm as indicated. All Ministers, Advisors and AHODs may collect Car Passes and Gallery Passes from the Special Secretary (Home), Civil Secretariat, Nagaland, Kohima; All MLAs, P.S/P.A to the Members are to collect Car Passes from the Reception Counter Gate No-II, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat; All HODS, IPR and Media Persons are to collect their Car Passes from the Reception Counter, Gate No-I, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
