
Demonstration for permanent peace in Manipur
Kohima, November 8 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) will be staging a sit-in-protest for permanent peace in Manipur on November 9 at Raj Bhavan Kohima. It will start from 10:00 am onwards. NSF vice president Mteisuding will deliver message on “Call for Peace.” Solidarity messages will be delivered by Mutsikhoyo Yhobu, secretary general NESO, Ejanthung Ngullie, coordinator NESO and Kegwayhun Tep, ex- president NSF.
ACVA urges govt to clear dues
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 8 (MExN): The All Commercial Vehicle Associations (ACVAs) of Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng, Zunheboto, ANTA Phek and Peren has appealed to the State Government to release the pending bills to all aggrieved associations at the earliest. In a joint statement, the ACVAs of 7 districts reminded the concerned authority to honour its assurance, saying the 'chakka bandh' was called off in good faith and on the basis of the said assurance. In this regard, the associations have also reiterated the decision to implement pre-paid payment system in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls so as to avoid similar crisis.
Kohima Police informs
KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 8 (MExN): The Kohima Police has informed all private vehicle owners/drivers that the payment of hiring charges for vehicles which were requisitioned by the SP office, Kohima during the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election 2023 for various election duties, will commence on November 9 at the SP office, Kohima from 10:00 am onwards.
Phek DC issues travel advisory
PHEK, NOVEMBER 8 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Phek has informed that in view of maintenance and repairing of minor bridges at Ch:38+148 (Kohima-Jessami road, Package-2) on NH-29 under Phek district movement of heavy and medium vehicles carrying a load of above 11.5 Metric Tons is completely restricted with immediate effect from November 7. Meanwhile, travellers have been advised to take the alternative route i.e. via Zuketsa-Pfutsero/ Zero Point-Chetheba-Pfutsero.
CPO, WSH condemn extortion incident at Dmp railway station
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 8 (MExN): The Chakroma Public Organisation (CPO) and the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) have condemned the recent extortion incident at Dimapur railway station. A joint statement from the two organizations expressed alarm at the “prevalence of syndicate system and extortion, not only involving unreported NPGs collaborating with certain interested parties and individuals, but also encompassing numerous unions, associations, and state agencies, particularly in Dimapur.” They questioned the district administration on how these organizations have been registered and allowed to operate freely and demanded action against these organizations.
