Minister Kronu inspects road construction in Meluri 

Kohima, October 24 (MExN): Nagaland’s Planning, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu visited Meluri Sub-Division on October 21. He inspected the site for construction of PMGSY road from Phek to Meluri and also the 2 lane road to be constructed under Bharat Mala from Lozaphuhu to Avankhung along Myanmar border via Waziho cement factory. Earlier, at Meluri town he had a short interaction with the public leaders and briefed them about the 2 lane road projects and appealed to the public to co-operate with the concerned authorities as these are very important roads which will connect (Burma) Myanmar. He also visited Wazeho cement factory and had a brief interaction with the manager and his team.

Security Forces seize assorted IMFL in Wohka 

Kohima, October 24 (MExN): The Security Forces seized assorted cases of IMFL and beer and arrested one person in Gen A Orchid Colony, Wokha on October 23, an official release informed.  The seizure was made when the Security Forces alongwith Police representative launched an operation the area as a part of the ongoing crackdown to prevent illegal activities in Nagaland, said that release from the PRO, HQ IGAR (N).  Recoveries included six cases and eight bottles rum, a bottle whisky and 12 cans of beer, it said.   The apprehended individual along with recovered items has been handed over to Wokha Police Station for further investigation, it added. 

Security Forces arrest one cadre in Kohima 

Kohima, October 24 (MExN): In a joint operation by Security forces and Police, a cadre of NSCN (K-Nikki) was arrested near 2K Hotel, Officer Colony, Kohima on October 22, an official release said.  The operation was undertaken in the area based on specific input, said the release from PRO, HQ IGAR (N). “It is suspected the individual was involved in extortion activities on behalf of Commander of Western Division of NSCN (K-Nikki) in Kohima,” it added.  One Point 22mm Pistol with magazine, ten live rounds of ammunition and other incriminating documents from the individual were also recovered from the individual, the release said.  The cadre alongwith recovered items have been handed over to South Police Station, Kohima for further investigations, it added.  

DC Wokha seals one house at NST Colony

Wokha, October 24 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman District Task Force for COVID-19 Wokha, Orenthung Lotha on Saturday ordered the sealing of a house at NST Colony “with immediate effect till further order” as an effective measures to prevent the spread of the infection. The order was issued as per the power conferred under section 30 (1), (2) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, a press release informed.  Any person violating these containment measures will be liable to be prosecuted as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, beside legal action under Section 188 of the IPC, it added. 

DDCF flays ‘forced closure’ of transport agency 

Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) today expressed anger and disheartenment over the “forced closure of the India Transport Agency Dimapur, run by two Naga lady entrepreneurs by some unscrupulous elements” reportedly over non-payment of “their unabated tax demands.” The Forum vehemently condemns this shameful and unruly act of these miscreants and firmly stands with PAC and ACAUT in demanding the arrest of the culprits, DDCF said in a press release issue by its Media Cell.  It further appealed the concerned authorities to “check such unwanted elements prevailing in our society which are hindering the business community and ultimately affecting the citizens.”
