The United College of Theology & Missions (UCTM) in collaboration with the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) organized a Seminar on COVID-19 at the UCTM complex, 5th Mile Model Village, Dimapur on September 30. According to a press release issued by UCTM Principal, Dr Ashong Serto, Dr Nokchur Imchen and Theyiesienuo from CIHSR, Dimapur stressed on the importance of maintaining proper COVID behaviour and vaccination.

Blood donors who volunteered for donations in Mokokchung on October 1 as part of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

As part of the ‘Swarnim Vijay’ celebration, commemorating the 50th anniversary of victory of the Armed Forces in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, Zakhama Military Station conducted a Pipe Band Display at Kigwema Local Ground on October 3.  The event which included display of martial music by the Pipe Band of the Army was witnessed by NCC Cadets, Students of Loyola School, St Joseph’s College and the local population. The event was conducted with an air to celebrate the military heritage of India and install a spirit of appreciation for the soldiers who served with distinction in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. On the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and its 15th Foundation Day, the Team Metamorphosis, the implementing support agency (ISA) on Jal Jeevan Mission for Wokha District, undertook Awareness Campaign tour to New Riphyim and Thillong villages on October 2. The team conducted interactions with the village functionaries—Gram Panchayat, WATSAN and general public, and shared the details of the vision, mission and policy guidelines of JJM. Topics like formation of Village Water & Sanitation Committee, women participation and other cleanliness activities under Swachh Bharat Mission were also highlighted during the seminars where over a hundred people participated.

Along with the rest of the country Swachh Bharat Committee, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung observed Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 by initiating a mass social work in the college campus with the participation of all the teaching, non-teaching staff and students. The day started with a brief programme wherein Dr Aotemshi I, the Convener of the college Swachh Bharat Committee highlighted the significance of the day. He said that ‘Clean India’ propounded by Mahatma Gandhi decades ago has been an instrumental factor in transforming India and encouraged all to clean the entire college campus. (Photo Courtesy: FAC)
