ICAR-NRC on Mithun celebrated a week-long Hindi Week from September 14 to 20. The closing ceremony was presided over by Gp Capt RK Yadav, Principal, Sainik School, Punglwa as the chief guest. Dr MH Khan, Director of the Institute highlighted the institute’s process in the use of Rajbhasa Hindi. To strengthen Section 6 (b) of COPTA 2003, an enforcement squad under National Tobacco Control Programme Mon went for an enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products near educational institutions at Mon Town on September 19. The team was led by District Nodal Officer NCTP Mon, Dr I Simon Sumi, EAC, Merishan Ezung and District Consultant NCTP Mon, Nyeamying Konyak. 10 shops were found selling tobacco products near educational institutes which were seized and destroyed by the team. NSS unit Wangkhao Government College, Mon organized a rally to observe Rashtriya Poshan Maah on September 20 to spread awareness on ‘Education with Nutrition’ (Poshan Bhi Padhaai Bhi) focusing children under 6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant mothers and lactating mothers. The rally started from Civil Hospital Junction till Local Ground, Mon where students held placards which reads ‘Eat Healthy Stay Healthy’, ‘Eat Right Future Bright’, ‘Health is wealth’ etc. The rally was attended by NSS Programme Officers Manwang Konyak and Manlee Konyak.
