An enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products was carried out in and around the educational institutions at Zunheboto town by the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) district representatives and Police personnel on January 24. As per Section 6 COTPA ACT, selling of any kind of tobacco products within 100 metres of school area is restricted. The team after conducting the raid, penalized five (5) defaulters and seized tobacco products from the shops falling within the restricted areas. The seized tobacco products were burnt and destroyed on the same day in the presence of all the team members.
