Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba donated a raptor of the hawk family. The bird was handed over to the officials of the Kohima Forest Division, in the presence of Dr Sevono Seletsu SFS, DCF, Kohima on June 6. With depletion of wildlife ecosystem in Nagaland, the Advisor voiced out of his concern for preserving the environment and its biodiversity. 

On June 5th, 2024, Angangba A with the initiative of the CPC under the Morung project observed World Environment Day. The event included the participation of 4 CPC members and 50 children, who collectively planted 30 saplings. The Volunteer mentor also conducted an input session, emphasizing the importance of keeping the environment clean and maintaining greenery for our well-being. This initiative aimed to foster environmental awareness and contribute to the local ecosystem.

 

 

Students of Balijan English School under Bokajan sub division Karbi Anglong district of Assam visited Nagaland Zoological Park on June 8.

 

 

Poilwa Student's Union during observance of World Environment Day on June 5. It planted 750 oaks saplings and 170 wild apple saplings stretching around 7 km along Poilwa village road.

 

 

Four male and one female, training out of The Combat Academy, Nagaland located at Sovima participated at the AI-RENG Fight League held at Shillong on June 8. Kekhrieneitso Angami and Sarita Rathod secured gold medals in the Above 70kg and below 55kg category respectively at the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu tournament, while Angel Debbarma secured silver in the finals of the under 70kg bout. Lichonthung Odyuo also won his third MMA amatuer bout in the 2nd round via technical knockout securing the gold medal.

 

 

The Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church organised a couple's seminar at their church premises with Rev Sentisashi Aier, Senior Pastor Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo and S Anungla Chang, Pastor Chang Baptist Church Kohima as the resource person on June 8. The resource person encouraged to improve communication and conflict management skills and to renew their commitment.

 

 

6th District Level Co-Ordination Committee (DLCC) meeting for National Tobacco Control Program was held on June 6 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mon under the chairmanship of Rongsemenla SDO (C), Mon. In her welcome address Dr Esther Chophy, District Nodal Officer, National Tobacco Control Programme highlighted that all schools under Mon district have achieved Tobacco Free Zone and 69 household were declared as Tobacco Free Home. The meeting also deliberated and reviewed the last meeting minutes and also discussed on strategies to strengthen COPTA Act 2003 and on Tobacco Free Educational Institution. Handing over of Tobacco Free Home certificate were the highlights of the programme. (DIPR Photo) 

 

 

The Silviculture Division Kohima & Working Plan Division Kohima (Forest Department) in collaboration with Konyak Baptist Church Kohima & Ao Students Union Kohima carried out a plantation cum cleanliness drive on account of World Environment Day at Botanical Garden Aradura, Kohima under the theme: “Land Restoration, Desertification & Drought resilience” on June 5. Velatso Demo, IFS, State Silviculturist & Working Plan Officer exhorted the gathering to give importance in safe guarding the environment not only by words but in action as it is the need of the hour. Chenshok, Deacon of Konyak Baptist Church and President, Ao Students Union also spoke on the various immediate needs to intervene and combat the climate change. All together 70 participants participated in planting around 350 saplings of various medicinal and native plants species

 

 

Anthony Ngullie, NCS, Observer for ULB general elections for Kohima Municipal Council held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Kohima and ULB election officials on June 6.
