Mount Tiyi College, Wokha established in 1974 is on a preparation to celebrate its Golden Jubilee this year, tentatively after the academic session. To kick off the jubilee celebrations, a coffee plantation event was organised on July 26 in the presence of the Principal, teaching faculty, ministerial staff and the students. The first coffee plant was planted by the outgoing Vice-Principal, Sentimenla Jamir. Through this activity, it aims not only to promote environmental sustainability also aims to equip the students with added skills by teaching the students first-hand about the scope of coffee plantation as a profitable source of income.
Assam Rifles commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas in honour of their alumnus, Captain (Late) N Kengruise, MVC at St Xavier's School, Jalukie on July 26. The event was attended by students, faculty, and a team from Assam Rifles. The day began with a wreath laying ceremony at the bust of Capt (Late) N Kenguruse, MVC. The event concluded with a friendly basketball match organised between Assam Rifles and students from St Xavier's School, Jalukie.Training on ‘capacity building of farm women through Self Help Group’ was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng at KVK conference hall on July 26. In the technical session, Dr Pallabi Phukan, SMS (Social Sciences) delivered lecture on importance of self-help group, its characteristics, advantage and disadvantages of group. It was followed by a showing income generating activities and video presentation showcasing the success stories of SHG from Dimapur. A total of 48 numbers of women from 11 SHG members from different villages of Longleng attended the programme. Mhonchan Kithan, DPO (NCD) Zunehbotoalong with medical staffs during orientation training on NPCD held at CMO Office Zunheboto on July 23.Sainik School Punglwa organised a comprehensive awareness programme on Disaster management in collaboration with the 12 Battalion National Disaster Response Force, India under NCC to inculcate a sense of preparedness and responsibility among its cadets. The cadets were introduced to the various emergency response procedures and the crucial role played by the NDRF in mitigating disasters. The program included interactive sessions, informative presentations, and practical demonstration of rescue operations, medical aid and search and rescue techniques leaving a lasting impression on the cadets. In lieu of the 100- day special awareness campaign under SANKALP- HEW, the district administration in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Kohima held an awareness session on ‘Women Centric Legislations’ at TM Government Higher Secondary School on July 25.
Wokha Pharmaceutical (Wholesale/Distributor) located at PWD colony opposite LMS School was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer, Wokha Dr Zuben Kikon on July 25. Congratulating the proprietor, Renvungshan Khuvung for opening a pharmaceutical wholesaler and distribution centre in the district, Dr Zuben said, the people of the district will be benefited to a great extend as essential medicines required by the people will be readily available at the doorstep.
