World Oral Health Day organised by National Oral Health Programme Dimapur, Department of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland in collaboration with All Nagaland Private Schools Association, Chümoukedima Unit was observed at Chümoukedima Town Council Hall on March 20. Dr Japheth Yepthomi, Junior Dental Surgeon, District Hospital, Dimapur emphasised on the importance of good oral health and its association with mental wellbeing and overall health and provided visual presentation on the harmful effects of tobacco use and substance abuse. Special guest Imnalensa, IPS, DIGP (Training) reiterated the importance of abstaining from alcohol, tobacco products, drugs, and pornography. During the programme, winners of various competitions under the oral health theme such as essay writing, slogan writing, and reels production were awarded. More than 500 student from 22 schools under Chümoukedima district attended the function.
World Oral Health Day 2025 was observed at Government Middle School, Merhulietsa Kohima on March 20 under the theme “A Happy mouth is a Happy mind” under the banner of National Oral Health Programme by the Dental Department of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima. Dr Neingutunuo Angami as the resource person highlighted the importance of good oral hygiene and its association with mental wellbeing and overall health. Essay writing and poster making competitions were conducted for the students and cash award along with certificates were given to the winners. Dr Mhonseli Yanthan gave away the prices for the winners. The pledge taking and vote of thanks was led by Dr Neiphrezo Sorünuo. Altogether 100 students and staffs participated in the programme and free oral kits were given to all the participants. World Oral Health Day 2025 was observed at Lady Bird School, Mokokchung under the theme “A happy mouth is a happy mind” by National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) on March 20. Dr Keneitheja Dental Surgeon, IMDH advocated the importance of Oral Health and imparted necessary oral hygiene awareness to the teachers and students of the school. A painting competition was conducted on the theme, where Imnatila Lemtur of class 9 bagged the first position. Lipoktuden Pongen of class 9 bagged the second position and Bendangyangla Tzudir of Class 7 was adjusted the third prize. Certificate and cash prize was awarded to all the winners.World Oral Health Day with the theme ‘A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind’ was celebrated at Regimental School, DEF Wokha on March 20. Dr Thungroni Kikon, Dental Surgeon, Urban Primary Health Centre Wokha was the theme speaker. Additional Superintendent of Police Wokha and Chairman of School Board, Vitoshe K Sumi gave away the prizes to the winners of thepainting and slogan competitions. The NOHP team also conducted a quiz competition and prizes were distributed among the students. The programme concluded with distribution of toothbrushes and IEC leaflets on oral health to the students.World Oral Health Day was celebrated for the first time at GMS Wakching organised by National Oral Health Programme, District Hospital, Mon on March 20. Around 230 students from different schools attended the programme. Dr Esther Chophy Ngullie, District Nodal Officer, NOHP, Mon spoke on the theme ‘A healthy mouth is a healthy mind.’ Poster competition was held on the theme where 13 students from 6 schools participated. Cash prizes and certificates were given to all the participants. The programme was attended by Pastor Menton, school authorities, teachers, NOHP team and students.The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) conducted an Overnight Nature Camp for the students of Jo Foundation Inclusive School on March 19 and 20 at Yedikha Campsite, Jakhama. A total of 44 students and 4 teachers attended the environment education programme where they were exposed to the natural lifestyle of people living in the rural area. They were also given the opportunity to visit Community seed bank, and see the Potato plants germinating in the field. Hiking to the nearby vicinity on the foothills of the mountain was another highlight and an enriching experience of the bounties of nature for the students and teachers alike. The School authority has thanked NPCB and the camp Proprietor George Richa for the experience.Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung hosted the Viksit Bharat: Youth Parliament 2025 (District Nodal Round) on the theme ‘One Nation, One Election: paving the way for ViKsit Bharat.’ The two-day event received competitors from ICIT, ITI, JMC and FAC from Mokokchung. Competitors from Yingli College; Sao Chang College; Wangkao Government College; Zisaji Presidency College, also participated in the event. The jury for the event included Dr T Amongla, Principal, People’s College; Wapangnaro, Member, MMC; Renben Mozhui, Asst Election Officer and Lanutoshi Aier, President, AKM. Ten best competitorsfrom this event will be selected for onward participation at the State Level.Deputy Commissioner, Niuland, Sara S Jamir handed over an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 Lakh to Hoqheli wife of late Vitoho Assumi who lost his life in a communal violence incident on July 17, 2022 at Sahoi Village under Niuland District.
