MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, celebrated its cultural day on March 15. The event featured traditional Naga folk songs, Lotha folk dance, Bihu dance from Assam, folk tale of Nagaland and Manipuri dance. Rev Fr Giju George, Vice-President in his address emphasised the importance of preserving cultural diversity and unity. Reji Abraham, Principal highlighted the unique cultural richness of Northeast India, dispelling common misconceptions about the region. The day ended with an exhibition of different cultural groups where students displayed various artefacts costumes and artwork from different cultural groups.
Divine Connection from Nagaland enthralled the audience at Ravindra Bhawan Amphitheater with their unique blend of high energy Gospel, Classic and Hindi Rock music at the recently held Octave Music Festival in Goa on March 10. The Octave Festival is a National-level Folk music festival that brings together the vibrant cultures, music, dance, and traditions of the eight North Eastern states of India. This festival serves as a bridge that connects Goa and the North East India.The 2nd Semester students of Norman Putsure College had their Skill Development Class at the Sovima Campus on March 15. The students had a first hand experience on horticulture under the guidance of Neibu and her team. The objective of the Skill Class focused on the importance of subsistence and organic farming which is a prerequisite for our survival and healthy living.Under the aegis of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, the District Administration in collaboration with Sankalp - District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Mission Shakti Niuland organised an educational study tour for 26 girl students from GHS Nito, GMS Nikhekhu and Niuland on March 15. The study tour took the students to the Nagaland Science Centre in Dimapur. EAC, Kelengunuo Solo graced the occasion and inspired the students to dream big, work hard and never give up on their aspirations.
