The Dimapur Traffic Police conducted a traffic awareness programme at the ICFAI University Nagaland campus on November 8. Resource person, Medemkala Tzudir, NPS, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dimapur Traffic Police (Chümoukedima) who visited the university with her team highlighted about the various laws, rules and best practices of traffic that should be followed by everyone.Immanuel College, Dimapur observed National Education Day, 2023 with the theme ‘To Invest in People, Prioritise Education’ under the initiative of the Department of Education at the College Auditorium on November 10. Dr T Imchanochetla Changkija, Vice Principal, Immanuel College was the speaker. Rooting on the role of education in students' life, she gave a clarion call to the students to prioritise their education and identify their goals and live with passions. She pointed out the fact that degree certificate is just a piece of paper but one's education is reflected in one's behaviour. She also said that it requires the entire society to prioritise the value and importance of education for the holistic development in the life of an individual, community and nation.The Department of Education and Women Cell, Immanuel College, Dimapur organised ‘skill training on food processing’ in collaboration with the Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre from November 6 to 10 at the College premises. The training was conducted by Zubeni Ezung and around 70 participants consisting of both students and teachers attended the training session.KVK Zunheboto, Nagaland University is playing an important role in improving the socio-economic condition of the farming communities. To boost potato production and help the potato grower in the district, the KVK initiated a programme sponsored by IARI, New Delhi. Under the programme, a total of 8000 kgs of potato seeds was distributed to the farmers from Keltomi in Aghunato; Tichipami and Surumi in Suruhoto; Aotsaklilmi in Atoizu block November 10. Potato seeds of Kufri Jyoti varieties which possess a very good yield potential of 20 tonnes per hectare and are resistant to late and early blight disease of potato were provided to the needy farmers. Yisanbeni Tsanglao and Nongothung Kikon bagged the title Miss Tokhu and Mr Tokhu held at Wokha on November 6. While Subeno Murry and Vonchithung L Kithan, Merilo Kikon and Erenbemo Ezung were adjudged the first and second runner up respectively.A grand reception was held at Ruzazho village in honour of Nagaland state BJP President, Benjamin Yepthomi and his team of state office bearers' visit to Phek district on November 8. The meeting was held at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Hall. State President held a series of meetings with the Phek District BJP officials, 5 Mandal Presidents, Morchas and Booth Level Committee members during his visit to Ruzazho, Phek. The state BJP president had already covered Mon, Aboi, Longleng, Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator, Kipheri, Pungro, Meluri, Phek and Zunheboto as part of his intensive District Touring Program.The newly elected Nagaland BJP President Benjamin Yepthomi paid a maiden visit to Zunheboto District on November 9. His visit was the first ever State BJP President visit to Zunheboto, stated a press release from IT Cell Zunheboto unit BJP. The President was accompanied by the State General Secretary and secretaries. The meeting was attended by 7 Mandal units. The meeting was held at BJP District Office at DC Hill Colony Zunheboto prior to the meeting the District officials gave reception to the visiting team. Hekhushe Shikhu, President, BJP Zunheboto District delivered the welcome addressNagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) in collaboration with Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong Mopong Unit held a legal awareness programme at Yonghong Changnyu village under Mon district. NSCW Chairperson, Nginyeih Konyak in the introductory speech briefed on the visions, mission and functions of the NSCW. Apila Sangtam, Legal Consultant, NSCW took a session on Constitutional and Legal Rights of women with special reference to the State of Nagaland. She also spoke on Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act, 2012, First Information Report, Rights of Women during arrest and the Legal services Authority and Public Interest Litigation 2015. Altogether more than 300 women leaders from Mopong, Yonghong range KNSK, church leaders and youths attended the programme. On November 8 the US Consul and team wore Naga traditional clothing as an expression of solidarity with the Mekhela Wednesday.
