Unity College, Dimapur observed 7th Cultural Day under the theme ‘Tapestry of Tradition: Celebrating our Diversity’ on November 14. Unity College, Principal, Dr Lichumo Enie in his Welcome speech stressed with suitable examples from his experiences on the necessity of ‘knowing from where we have come, without at the same time becoming fanatics’. The programme, a veritable cornucopia of cultures, was woven through Lotha (Roa Lan Taro), Chakhesang (Zowe Kileu Eyimi), Nepali (Resam Firiri), Sangtam (IH Shangrüti), and Angami (Lita) songs; Sumi Naga Folk dance ‘Hanglo’, as well as Bengali (Ailo Uma Bariteh) and Nepali (Dhamphu ma Selo)dances; and a Pochury Epic Folk narration from Leruri village ‘Ayowsü’ (Wolf Cub)- all showcasing and celebrating the ‘Tapestry of Tradition’ that is our Nagaland. Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Cultural Secretary, UCSC, after which the Cultural Day was brought to a conclusion by the college’s own tradition of lighting a bonfire.
State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) Kohima during the business sessions on November 13, conducted a change of guard and the new office bearers took over. The Alumni Institutional Committee presented the new team with President- Sedevilhou Victor; Vice President- Dr Bijano Murry; General Secretary- Rieto Linus; Finance Secretary - Dr Thebi Joseph; Publicity and information Secretary, Keduoneinuo Solo; and outgoing executives as Advisors. SCTE Kohima had also organised a talk on ‘Soft Skills’ for the teacher trainees with Ravolü Chuzho from YouthNet as the resource person on November 13.Modern Higher Secondary School, Kohima 2nd annual sports meet commenced on November 15 at Modern College, Piphema with Brigadier Shiva Kant Shukla, Commander 6 Sector Assam Rifles as the special guest. In his address, the Brigadier said, “we should think young to remain young. A fine coordination between mind and body gives a good life.” The programme was chaired by Thejazenuo. Nenia Theresa, Principal, MHSS delivered the welcome note while Akuluzo presented a special number. Students presented aerobics; Kikatemba led Oath taking and Lemnyei Konyak, Convener, Sports Committee delivered the vote of thanks.
