The Nagaland University Kohima Campus, Meriema celebrated its 29th freshers’ meet under the theme ‘Wanderlust: Challenging the new’ at RCEMPA, Jotsoma on September 15. Dr Neivetso Venuh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NU as speaker graced the occasion with insightful and inspiring thoughts. Chingshau C Phom, from the Department of English, was crowned Mr. Fresher 2022 and Kungsiliu from the Department of Geology, was crowned the Miss Fresher.

Don Bosco College Kohima Student’s Forum along with the NSS Unit organized marathon to mark the start of the college’s Euphoria Festival. The points of the Marathon include Billy Graham Road, followed by BSF Camp, ATI, Seikhazou Area and back to the college campus, covering a distance of 6.5 km approximately. In the male category, Khrievikuo Keditsu from Team Ninjas, Kenyusinlo Seb from Team Vikings, Nukho Keyho from Team Knights bagged the first, second, and third respectively. In the female category, Laam L  from Team Ninjas, Dovelu Kezo from Team Samurais and Vetshulu Nienu from Team Vikings secured first, second and third respectively.

The Literary Club of St Joseph University, Dimapur organized ‘a ticket to the show’ event on September 15. A competition was held where seven groups enacted the following play: Jina and Etiben; Musical Act; Pirates of the Caribbean; Mind Your Language; Mother’s Love; Use of Mobile Phones; love story of a Sumi folktale. Group 3 (MA 1st Semester, English Department) bagged the first prize followed by Group 6 (BA 1st Semester, Economics Department) in second and the third prize by Group 4 (BA 3rd Semester, English Department) and Group 5 (BA 1st Semester, Education Department). The winners were awarded with cash prizes.

BJP Nagaland organized a free health check-up camp under Seva Pakhwada at Chungaizaeng Colony, Burma camp, Dimapur on September 19. The programme was launched by BJP National Vice President, Dr H Chuba Ao. Dr Sukhato Sema and the family of Faith Hospital, Dimapur provided one doctor, two nurses and one ambulance for the humanitarian service while State BJP Vice President, Basu Damani donated medicines and other medical aids. Altogether, 60 patients turned up and availed various medical consultations and aids. Seva Pakhwada, a fortnight of service is headed by State Vice President, Kevidezo Peter Rutsa as Committee in-charge, Atila Phom as co- in charge, Ngampa Konyak and Kakuto Chishi as members.

Coinciding with the 72nd birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and as part of the ‘Seva Pakhwada program (A fortnight for service)’, the Yuva Morcha (youth organisation) of BJP Mokokchung district conducted a blood donation camp at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital on September 17. BJPYM led by its President, Longsaakum Longkumer and General Secretary, Takojungba Jamir collaborated with the IMDH, Mokokchung and conducted the blood donation camp.
