The newly appointed State Ambassador for the Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan Mission, Prof. Alongla Aier, visited various Anganwadi centres as part of the Poshan Abhiyaan district campaign at Dimapur. The Ambassador spoke on the importance of nutrition in the development of a healthy child and healthy mother. She also had personal interaction with the United Women Welfare Organization members and parents of young children present on the occasion. Continuing with the campaign, she visited Dimapur Rural Project, where she was welcomed by Bonathung Ngullie CDPO (Rural) and briefed on nutritional activities being implemented by the department of Social Welfare. The highlights of the events were Cleanliness drive, Painting, essay competitions etc.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_400902" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Yuva Shakti Rally with the slogan ‘Spread the Poshan Message’, an initiative under the PM’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment to promote nutrition was organised in Dimapur District on September 15 under the initiative of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Dimapur Government College along with five other institutions in collaboration with the District Administration and Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland. The rally was flagged off by ADC Dimapur, Albert Ezung, at DC Court Junction and culminated at Sub-Jail area. Altogether 200 NSS volunteers participated in the rally along with Programme Officers of Immanuel College, Unity College, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, St. John College and Pranabananda Women’s College.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_400903" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Lions Club of Dimapur concluded its first two days Mega Eye Screening Camp on September 15 and 16 wherein altogether 660 patients were screened out of total registration of 746. The patients were given free advice, medicines and 116 patients selected for IOL surgery. The first batch of 30 patients left for Jorhat Lions Eye Hospital for surgery by Ambulance. Lion Rajendra Khadria MJF, Chairperson, Sight Conservation and Work with Blind, Lions Club of Dimapur informed in a press release that the expenditure for surgery, travelling, food, lodging and medicines will be sponsored by Lions club of Dimapur. All surgeries will be completed by September 25.[/caption]
