Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): Over 100 employees engaged for implementing the Prime Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition or the Poshan Abhiyaan in Nagaland have not received their salaries for almost eight months. These staff, who are responsible for implementing the scheme are posted in various districts of Nagaland.
On Wednesday, District Coordinators of 11 districts issued a press release stating that the concerned authorities, despite being apprised of the situation on several occasions, had turned a deaf ear.
“That the department failed to disburse the salary even after giving the verbal assurance to release the salary on time after approaching the concerned authority cast doubt and hopelessness in the concerned authority,” the release stated.
Speaking to The Morung Express over the phone on Wednesday, one of the District Coordinators said the salaries have been pending since February. The employees are suffering because of nonpayment of salary which is their only source of income, and even though we have approached the authorities at the Directorate of Social Welfare multiple times, nothing has been done so far, he said.
Even in the month of September, the authorities gave us verbal assurance that we would receive our salary, but it has not come yet, he added.
With regard to non-payment of allowances (TA) for the statewide Poshan Pakhwada (via video conference) mentioned in the press release, he informed that stated that unpaid allowances were for the Poshan Pakhwada for 2021.
In the release, the District Coordinators pointed out that such delay in payment showed the lack of transparency and accountability in the concerned department.
Referring to the Finance Department notification of July 22, 2022 which stated that salary of all the monthly pay and fixed pay Government employees would be released on the first working day of the month, the Poshan Abhiyaan employees asserted that the same should be applied to all the government employees without discrimination and bias.
