
DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): Schools across Nagaland celebrated Cultural Day on the fourth day of Shiksha Saptah (Education Week), commemorating four years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The day was marked by a variety of cultural activities in both government and private schools throughout the state, aiming to encourage co-curricular activities as emphasized by the NEP.
An official event was held at Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire Government Higher Secondary School Seikhazou in Kohima district, where students showcased their talents through folk songs, traditional dances, and the narration of folk stories from different tribes of Nagaland.
The event was graced by several notable figures, including T. Abao Kire, Ex-MLA and SMDC member; Medo-o Keretsu, Head GB of Kohima village; Pelesielie Khezhie, Chairman of D Khel; SMC/SMDC Members; D Khel Students’ Union leaders; and D Khel Youth Organisation members.
Temsunaro Aier (IAS), Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, highlighted in her speech the rich repository of stories, songs, folklore, attire, and jewelry that the Nagas possess. She noted that Cultural Day serves as an excellent occasion to showcase these cultural treasures.
Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, praised Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire GHSS for being a leading educational hub in Nagaland, attributing its success to strong community support and dedicated teachers. He emphasized the importance of honoring traditions passed down by elders and urged everyone to uphold these values.
Dr Chumbeni Murry, Joint Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha; Dr. Bijano, Joint Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha; and Smti. Emilo Patton, DEO Kohima, also represented the Department of School Education at the event.
