Nagaland observes World Health Day

Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): World Health Day was observed on April 7 at Gukhanyu Village organized jointly by Nagaland Health Project (NHP) and FPAI India Nagaland Branch.  

In WHO’s 70th anniversary year, World Health Day focused on ‘Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere’ - ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access essential quality health services without facing financial hardship. Keduokhrietuo Sachu, District facilitator NHP spoke on the significance of World Health Day. He mentioned that it is celebrated to remember the establishment of the World health Organization as well as draw the attention of people towards the major health issues in the world.  

Ville Rhetso, Counsellor, FPA India Nagaland Branch sensitized the participants on the importance and benefits of family planning for healthy family. Further, emphasized on the importance of menstrual hygiene management and timely health seeking behavior and also, highlighted about the organization work and services to the community. Aoyangla Imchen, counselor mobile ICTC, DAPCU Kohima under NSACS briefed on HIV/AIDS, mode of transmission and discrimination against PHLIV. After the session FPA India and DAPCU provided laboratory services such as VCT: HIV, Hepatitis B & C including blood grouping to the villagers. Besides, FPA India provided counseling on Reproductive health and family planning services.

AR conducts lecture cum awareness prog

ZUNHEBOTO: Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized a lecture cum awareness programme on the occasion of ‘World Health Day’ at Zunheboto on April 7. It was informed in a press release that the aim of the lecture was to spread awareness and educate the local youths of various villages about the importance of good health. The lecture also covered the aspects relating to prevention of HIV/ AIDS & Drug Abuse and its aftermath. The camp was organised by the Medical Team of the Battalion, led by Captain Abhishek Sharma, Regimental Medical Officer, and staff of the Unit Hospital. A total of 95 local youths attended the lecture.
