Nagaland Optometric Association in observance of World Optometry Day conducted school eye screenings.

Kohima, March 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Optometric Association (NOA) in observance of World Optometry Day which falls on March 23, conducted school eye screenings with the theme ‘Eyes to the Future: Optometry improving Global Wellness’ as announced by the World Council of Optometry.
In Kohima, it was conducted at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima on March 201825. A total of 184 students were screened and 71 students were diagnosed with Refractive Errors.
In Chümoukedima, it was conducted at Government Middle School, Seithekema Basa on March 21. A total of 200 students were screened and three refractive errors were diagnosed.
The NOA along with the support of the National Program for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCBVI), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare have made arrangements for providing spectacles to the students.
Weweu Khalo Tsuha, President, NOA in a press release stated that World Optometry Day observed annually on March 23, is a global recognition of the invaluable contributions of Optometrists to eye health. Optometry is far more than just vision correction; it is a key pillar in global healthcare which contributes to overall wellness, disease prevention and the diagnosis of health conditions that affect more than just the eyes. When incorporated into health systems, optometry can act as an entry point for detecting a range of health issues.
