Nagaland partners with Austria, Malta for Hornbill Festival 2025

NEW DELHI, November 19 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio and representatives of Austria and Malta have announced the Country Partnerships for the forthcoming Hornbill Festival of Nagaland.

The announcement was made following separate meetings between the Chief Minister and the diplomatic representatives of the two European nations in the national capital, stated a DIPR report. 

The High Commissioner of Malta to India, H.E. Reuben Gauci, expressed his gratitude to the Nagaland government for the partnership. He stated that Malta looks forward to its participation in the iconic event, hoping it will bolster bilateral ties, enhance people-to-people contact, and pave the way for future collaborations.

Representing Austria, Dr Gisela Kristoferitsch, Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy, confirmed that an Austrian trade delegation would attend the festival. She indicated that their participation would focus on exploring avenues for collaboration and partnership during the various events.

CM Dr Neiphiu Rio welcomed the association, stating, “It is a pleasure and an honour to welcome Malta and Austria as Country Partners for the Hornbill Festival. Both nations carry with them rich histories, vibrant cultures, and remarkable strengths in art, heritage, creativity, and innovation.”

He added, “We look forward to meaningful collaborations that will deepen people-to-people connections, strengthen cultural and creative-economy exchanges, and open new avenues for partnership across sectors. I am confident that this association will bring mutual benefits and lasting friendships.”

Beyond the cultural showcases, the Hornbill Festival is also slated to feature business roundtables, networking workshops, and sessions to highlight investment opportunities in the state.
