To stands by State Government on CAB issue
Kohima, January 21 (MExN): The ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) of the Government of Nagaland has resolved to field a consensus candidate under the banner of NDPP in the forthcoming bye elections to the 26 Aonglengden assembly constituency and the Nagaland Lok Sabha Parliamentary constituency.
This was informed in a press release from PDA Chairperson, Chingwang Konyak, and Co-Chairperson, Temjen Imna Along following a joint meeting of the elected Members of the PDA and the PDA Coordination Committee held at the Chief Minister's Residential Office Monday.
The Alliance also resolved to uphold the decision of the State Cabinet on the matter of the Citizenship Amendment Bill and expressed its solidarity with the “firm stand” of the Nagaland State Government. The PDA also welcomed the “decision of the State cabinet to hold consultations with cross sections of society on the matter,” while appealing to all concerned to “come forward in a positive and participatory manner with views and suggestions so that the approach of the government will reflect the will and desire of the people.”
While PDA coalition partners reaffirmed their commitment to the “unity and understanding within the alliance” and its faith in the “solid footing” under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the PDA affirmed that it is “functioning smoothly with collective responsibility” while “pursuing the commitments of the Common Minimum Program (CMP) of the coalition.”
The PDA resolutions also stated that the Nagaland State Government has “ensured that salaries of its employees especially to teachers and scholarships to students are being disbursed in a timely manner.”
