Nagaland: Petals of ‘Bloom Bazaar’ unveiled

Weekends in Kohima will never be the same again thanks to ‘Bloom Bazaar’, an initiative of the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) that was ceremonially launched today. Bloom Bazaar will take place every weekend on Friday and Saturday from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm for 30 weekends.

During the ceremonial launch, the Advisor to Chief Minister & Chairman, IDAN, Abu Metha cut the ribbon and declared it open. He also dedicated the Bloom Bazaar to the people of Nagaland, especially the women, mothers and sisters. “Let flowers and Nagaland bloom”, he said in his brief address. 

Altogether, 68 stalls are participating in the Bloom Bazaar. These include 15 governmental departments from Agri and Allied, Horticulture, Bamboo Mission and Honey mission, Industries and Commerce and 45 private stalls featuring flowers, food, jewellery, fashion, merchandise, etc. 

One of the participants, Avono Pucho, who has been running ‘Blush Bloom’ for close to 20 years said, ‘Bloom Bazaar’ is a ‘good opportunity’ for the Nagaland Growers Society while relating that they have also been looking for such a platform. 

Earlier, Arep Tzudir, Pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Church (KABA) said the opening prayer. Day one of the Bloom Bazaar also witnessed hundreds of visitors. Besides live performance, there is also a Kids Play Zone and exhibition of art, culture, and creativity.

It may be noted here that the formal inauguration will be held on Saturday, September 30 at 5:00 pm. Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio will formally inaugurate the ‘Bloom Bazaar.’
