Dimapur | July 5

With the increase for two consecutive days, Wokha joined 8 others districts in Nagaland where petrol was selling for Rs 100 per litre on July 5.

The Oil marketing companies (OMCs) revised the price of petrol upward by 0.34 paise per litre across the State on Monday taking it to another record high, while diesel remained unchanged.

With Monday’s hike, a litre of petrol increased from Rs 99.70 to Rs 100.04 in Wokha while diesel remained unchanged at Rs 92.84.

By July 3, petrol was retailing  above Rs 100 a litre in Longleng, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Kiphire, Noklak, Mon, Phek and Zunheboto (Satakha), per the official IndianOil One app. Tuensang and Kiphire first breached the psychological Rs 100-a-litre mark on June 26.

Only in Jalukie (Peren), Kohima and Dimapur, petrol prices were below Rs 100 a litre.

In State’s capital Kohima, it was nearing the threshold at Rs 99.40 a litre for petrol on July 4 while diesel was retailing at Rs 92.06.

In commercial capital Dimapur, where fuel prices are lowest, a litre of petrol was Rs 98.45 and that of diesel for Rs 91.48 on Monday.

With Monday’s revision, petrol prices have been raised thrice in July while diesel has increased once, as per the database maintained by The Morung Express.

OMCs revise petrol and diesel prices every morning benchmarking retail fuel prices to average of global refined products' prices and dollar exchange.

According to IOC’s ‘price buildup’ of fuel prices in Delhi, besides global price impact on base price, retail prices are determined by price charged to dealers (based price + fright etc), excise duty, average dealer commission, and VAT (including VAT on Dealer Commission).
