
Kohima, October 21 (MExN): The Nagaland Police arrested 90 people in 57 different cases related to illegal drug, IMFL and arms & ammunition during September 1 to October 15. The arrests were made under the statewide operations in all the districts of Nagaland in order to combat the menace of widespread availability and usage of synthetic drugs and psychotropic substances and IMFL.
An update from the State IPR stated that intensive checking of vehicles (MVCP), raids and checking of hotels, restaurants, etc., are being carried out on a continuous basis to prevent any such illegal activity.
The particulars of the seized items during this period included: 36 cases were registered and 66 persons were arrested with narcotics & psychotropic substances which included Spasmo Proxyvon & other tablets-8005 nos; Brown sugar & Crystal Meth-5778.71 grams; Heroin-213.53; 15 cases related to IMFL were registered and 16 persons were arrested. The seizure quantity was 1659 nos & 199.15 litres; a total of 19 nos of arms & ammunition were seized, 6 cases were registered and 8 persons were arrested. The report also stated that a total of 136 raids and 6776 MVCP were conducted.
Further, Nagaland Police has appealed to the general public to provide information of sale/distribution of any form of narcotics/drugs/IMFL etc., to the nearest Police Station or Narcotic Police Station or on ‘Call Your Cop’ mobile App or the Madeinagaland platform. “The identity of the informant shall be kept confidential,” it added.
