Nagaland Police Manual operational

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): Nagaland Police has its own manual (rules and procedures which governs the functioning of a police force), finally. A comprehensive seven volume/parts handbook – the Nagaland Police Manual was officially released by Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen during the opening ceremony of the 33rd Nagaland Police Duty cum Sports & Athletic Meet 2012 at NAPTC, Chumukedima.

“I believe this manual, which was a long felt demand of the Nagaland Police, will serve its purpose to the fullest,” declared Imchen releasing the handbook. In its nearly 50 years of existence, the Nagaland Police has been following the almost archaic Assam Police Manual. Later queried on the structure and content of the manual, Imchen replied that the manual is quite identical to the Assam Police Manual and is already operational. No copy of the manual was made available to the media.

The drafting for the manual had begun during the early part of the last decade under the chairmanship of the then secretary Law and Justice. After a long wait of nearly ten years, it was finally approved and adopted by the state Assembly. According to Imchen, the state Assembly gave the final nod of approval in 2010.
