The MHA awardees include 9 personnel from North East

New Delhi, August 12 (MExN): Temsuyangba Ao, an Unarmed Branch Sub Inspector (UBSI) of Nagaland Police has been awarded the ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation’ for the year 2021.

Temsuyangba, currently posted in West Police Station under the Dimapur Police Commissionerate, was among the 152 personnel selected for the award from various States/Union Territories police as well as central agencies like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

The medal was constituted in 2018, with the objective to promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognise such Excellence in investigation by investigating officers, informed an official release from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on August 12.

As per the MHA’s list, 9 personnel from North East received the award, with Assam leading with 4 and one each from Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.

Others included 15 from CBI, 11 each from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra Police, 10 from Uttar Pradesh, 9 from Kerala and Rajasthan Police, 8 from Tamil Nadu Police, 7 from Bihar, 6 each from Gujarat, Karnataka and Delhi Police, 5 each from CBI and NCB and the remaining from the other States/UTs.
