The BJP 13th Pughoboto assembly constituency staged a peaceful dharna over the ticket issue at the state BJP head office in Kohima on January 20.

Referring to the news floating in social media, BJP 13th Pughoboto legal advisor, Joshua Sheqi said, “as matured voters and informed public we are not even taking that very seriously whether there is involvement of UG group or not, because there is no direct evidence. So we are not blaming anyone as such.”

“The concern is, why is our issue kept in abeyance? If it is kept in abeyance, definitely there may be some issue. If there is no issue, why should they keep in abeyance?” he said while talking to section of media persons.

‘We are not blaming anyone as such. We are not even trying to pinpoint/blame on anyone in particular,’ he clarified.

‘We have the understanding that the seat of 13th Pughoboto AC is a BJP seat. In the last election, we (BJP) have lost by very close margin,’ he said adding “its position is very good this time.”

“With good understanding of the coalition government we have, if this is disturbed just because of our constituency- Pughoboto, I don’t know whether it would have large impact on Nagaland as a whole or not, but it would be unfortunate to break this kind of good relationship,” he said.

Explaining further he stated that there is prior understanding before and the issue is not even a fresh issue “where we are trying to take somebody ticket.”

“In the understanding of 40-20 ratio, we are not trying to snatch away NDPP seat. This is BJP seat,” he affirmed.

“We are hopeful that good understanding between the coalition partner NDPP and BJP will continue,” he said and hoped the State BJP President, Deputy Chief Minister and the Chief Minister will also be mindful “of all such arrangement, we are having earlier.”

Further, he hoped that the central leaders would save the good relationship that “we are maintaining with NDPP over the years” and continue with partnership system.
