Nagaland power department notifies on jungle clearance, maintenance prog

Intermittent disruption of power supply between Oct 1-Nov 14

Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The state Department of Power has informed all concerned that jungle clearance and maintenance programme of 132kV, 66kV & 33kV lines is scheduled from October 1 to November 14 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm in an effort to avoid disruption and facilitate stable power supply.

“While the department shall try to minimize the total shutdown, there will be intermittent disruption of power supply in some pockets during the activity which is unavoidable,” Executive Engineer, Transmission Division, Kohima stated in a press release. It has also requested all consumers and public to bear the inconvenience caused.

It may be mentioned that on September 27 last, Engineer-in-Chief Nribemo Mozhui has informed that in view of improving power supply stability, so as to avoid unwarranted and unscheduled disruption of power supply due to vegetation or trees coming in contact with the power lines, October month of each calendar year has been declared as ‘Vegetation Clearance Month.’

During this period, all the concerned divisions have been directed to make all necessary arrangements for clearing of vegetation/jungle/trees along the corridor of each and every High Tension and Low Tension line within their respective jurisdiction in close co-ordination with the public organisations, concerned village councils and colony representatives.

As such, all Electrical & Transmission Divisions have been asked to make necessary arrangements and carry out the exercise with wide publicity in the print and electronic media. Transmission Divisions should make advance plans for OCC clearance for inter-state transmission line, it added.
