Nagaland rallies behind army, national leadership

Urges all religious leaders across state to conduct special prayer meetings

KOHIMA, MAY 10 (MExN): The Governor and Chief Minister of Nagaland on Saturday convened an emergency meeting in Kohima to express solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces and national leadership in the wake of Operation Sindoor.

The meeting, chaired by Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, brought together top state government officials, security agency representatives, religious leaders and community elders. A number of resolutions were adopted unanimously at the meeting. It reaffirmed the people of Nagaland’s unwavering support for national unity, territorial integrity and the valiant efforts of the armed forces in safeguarding the country.

The resolution saluted the bravery, sacrifice and professionalism of Indian soldiers and expressed unequivocal solidarity with the Armed Forces and national leadership under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It further urged all religious leaders across Nagaland to conduct special prayer meetings invoking divine protection for soldiers, national leaders, and the nation’s well-being.

Religious institutions were also encouraged to engage citizens through sermons and public discourse to emphasize the critical importance of upholding national unity.

The resolution called upon all citizens to remain vigilant against fake news, divisive narratives and misinformation propagated by anti-national elements. It advised the public to verify information through official government and military sources before dissemination and to strictly adhere to government advisories, safety protocols and legal directives in the interest of public order and national security.

Citizens, especially the youth, were encouraged to take part in initiatives that promote national pride, unity and resilience against threats to the country.

Governor Ganesan and Chief Minister Rio underscored that the resolution reflects the collective resolve of the people of Nagaland to stand with the nation during this critical time and uphold the values of unity and peace.
