Nagaland registers 60 new COVID cases, 5 more deaths

Dimapur, July 30 (MExN): Nagaland reported 5 more COVID-19 deaths and added 60 new cases to its tally on Friday.

The new cases were detected from among 1,508 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, returning a daily positivity rate of 3.98 percent, according to the daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). Out of fresh cases, Kohima reported 21, Dimapur 13, Mokokchung 6, Wokha 5, Peren 4, Mon 4, while Longleng, Phek, Tuensang and Zunheboto reported 2 cases each. 

On Friday, 2 COVID related deaths were reported from Kohima while Dimapur, Tuensang and Wokha reported 1 death each. As per the bulletin, the state’s COVID related death toll now stands at 547, along with 14 other deaths that were categorised as ‘non COVID deaths (with COVID-19 positivity).’ 

On the other hand, a total of 75 patients who previously tested positive for the virus, recovered on Friday. With this, the state now has a cumulative tally of 27,713 cases out of which 1,274 are active cases and 25,098 have recovered from the infection.

In terms of severity of cases, as of Friday, 1,027 of the active cases were said to be asymptomatic, 173 were mild symptomatic, 36 were moderate on oxygen, 23 were severe on oxygen, 4 were on ICU without ventilator, and 11 were in ICU on ventilator, as per the bulletin.
