Nagaland: Rengma community finally connected with the slogan ‘change is coming’: Khing

Nagaland Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development, Advisor, R Khing today said that the creation of Tseminyu district is the fulfillment of one of the commitments of NDPP and its alliance partners during 2018 elections.

Khing, who is an elected representative of 12th Tseminyu Assembly Constituency thanked the present government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for making it a reality today.

Speaking at the formal inaugural programme of Tseminyu district headquarter here today with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the special guest, Khing maintained that the Rengma community have been finally connected with the  slogan “Change is coming” and sought the cooperation of everyone to make Tseminyu as a model district.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Yitachu described the creation of Tseminyu district as a “foundation of justice,” which was delivered to the Rengma community. Stating that Naga people should be united, he called upon Rengmas to start working for Naga unity.

Health & Family Welfare, Minister, S Pangnyu Phom appealed the land donors and land owners to be reasonable and cooperate with the government in undertaking the various developmental activities in the district. Expressing delight with the creation of Tseminyu district, he said “Let Tseminyu district be a role model for Nagaland.”

Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Advisor, Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky Kire) wished speedy development of Tseminyu district and challenged the Rengma community to “Be a role model for all the Nagas.”

Nagaland Commissioner Rovilatuo Mor said that in line with the recent creation of new districts in the state, the government has laid down its criteria for all round development and to bring prosperity to the people. He appealed the community to avoid the fashion of submitting ultimatum to the government, keeping in mind with the limitation of the government. 

Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner, Dr Zasekuolie Chiisi said that Tseminyu district is considered to be most peaceful district in the state inhabited by 39 recognized and 3 unregonized villages with a population of 56,108 (as per 2011 census) covering an approximate area of 715 Sq.km. The literary rate stands at 81.71 %. He requested the CM and his colleagues including all HoDs to consider for establishment of the required departments both in terms of infrastructure and staff with the creation of Tseminyu district.

Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor, Information Technology & Communication, Science & Technology & NRE, Kekhrie Yhome, chairman, Nagaland Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and Timikha Koza, President, Tenyimia People's Organization also spoke at the function.

Earlier, Tseminyu Lojvü Tenunyu, Western Rengma Cultural Troupe and The Dayspring enthralled the gathering with folk songs and special appearance. Rengma Hoho, President, Pollen Tep delivered welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by Rengma Hoho, Vice President, Joel Kath.

The programme witnessed inaugural parade and release of balloons including celebratory music and fireworks. A prayer of thanksgiving was pronounced by Rev Haiwalo Apon, Executive Secretary, Council of Rengma Baptist Churches, Zunpha.
