Boka K Rochill, an urban policy researcher from Nagaland, has been selected as one of 15 Indian delegates for the Australia–India Youth Dialogue 2026.
Dimapur, July 22 (MExN): Nagaland-based urban policy researcher Boka K Rochill has been selected as one of 15 Indian delegates for the Australia–India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) 2026, which brings together emerging leaders from India and Australia.
The 2026 Dialogue, schedule from July 27-31 in Brisbane and Perth, will focus on how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, are reshaping governance, institutions and economic cooperation. Delegates from the two countries will exchange perspectives on shared policy challenges and opportunities.
Rochill’s work focuses on strengthening cities, public institutions and communities to respond to climate and development challenges, particularly in frontier and mountain regions.
According to a press release received here, he is trained as a civil engineer with postgraduate studies in Urban Policy and Governance and has worked with government agencies, development partners and local institutions in areas including urban resilience, municipal governance, public policy and community-led approaches to sustainable development.
His work has also involved initiatives related to municipal finance, urban heat resilience and nature-based solutions, with an emphasis on translating research into locally led climate action, it added.
Reacting to his selection, Rochill said the Dialogue would provide an opportunity to bring perspectives from Nagaland into discussions involving participants from both countries.
“International dialogue creates space not only to exchange ideas, but to better understand how different places respond to shared challenges,” he said.
Rochill said he looked forward to bringing perspectives from Nagaland’s frontier towns to the Dialogue while learning from experiences across India and Australia. Such exchanges, he added, could help strengthen partnerships and contribute towards “more resilient, inclusive and locally grounded urban futures” at home.
The AIYD is a Track II diplomacy initiative aimed at strengthening people-to-people ties between Australia and India. It brings together participants from fields including government, diplomacy, business, academia and civil society to facilitate dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.
The official opening of AIYD 2026 is scheduled in Brisbane on July 28.
