Dimapur, April 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Blind Football Team emerged as the first runners-up after narrowly losing 0-1 to Meghalaya in the final of the 5th Men's & 2nd Women's Edition of the IBFF Northeast Zonal Blind Football Tournament, held in Aizawl, Mizoram from April 3-6.
Despite the defeat in the final, the team demonstrated remarkable sportsmanship and resilience throughout the tournament, informed a press release received here.

With their strong performance at the zonal competition, the Nagaland team has also secured qualification for the National Blind Football Tournament scheduled to take place in June 2024 in Pune, Maharashtra.
Besides, the team secured two individual awards: ‘Men's Best Goalkeeper’ for Rongsenyanger and ‘Emerging Player Award’ for MighitoYeptho.

The Nagaland team was led by Diethozo Yoho as head coach, KezhaletoZecho as assistant coach-cum-goal guide, and Rongsenyanger as goalkeeper-cum-escort.
As the team prepares to embark on the next chapter of their journey, the Nagaland Blind Football Team remains steadfast in their determination to make the state proud and leave a lasting legacy, the release added.
