Nagaland: SJU hosts seminar on ‘Yoga for health, happiness and harmony’

Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): With the sponsorship of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, the department of Philosophy, St Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur conducted a national seminar on the topic on ‘Yoga for health, happiness and harmony.’

A press release issued by Dr Fr Sunny, Assistant Professor, SJU Dimapur stated that Dr Imkumnaro Walling, Head Department of Philosophy, welcoming the participants emphasized on the need to cultivate the habit of happiness for health and harmony. 

Dr J Robert Edwin Chester, Registrar of SJU, delivered the inaugural address by emphasizing the importance of yoga for three HHH (Health, Happiness and Harmony) in our daily life.

Dr Pabitra Kumar Subudhi, Reader and Head in the Department of Economics Neelamadhab Mahavidyalay, Odisha explored the Importance of Yoga in daily life and its relevance to Health, Happiness and Harmony. He focused on what is Yoga, the reason for yoga, the main goals of yoga, self-realization through yoga, how yoga achieves holistic health and the benefits of yoga. 

Dr Ananya Barua, from the Department of Philosophy, Hindu College, University of Delhi dealt on ‘Flute to Mute: A Sacred journey on Application of Svadhyaya of a Yogic’s Calling.’ Dr Barua said that our nation is a cosmic religion and embodied with nature and life-style. Life should be music to play and be happy. “Transcendental silence is to celebrate the life with happiness and joy. Karma should become our Dharma,” she stated. 

Fr Rajeesh Devasia, Scholar from the Department of Philosophy, SJU enlightened on ‘The Practice of Yoga for Health and Harmony in the Modern World: a Special Reference to Nagaland.’ The meaning of Yoga is to unite or to yoke which binds everyone to be with the Lord in all the trials and tribulations. Human beings in the modern world live in the sequence of technological advancement in recent years and have naturalistic way of living. By practice of Yoga one understands that position and power does not bring relaxation rather education and life-style brings relaxation and good health.
