MPL: PowerComm ease to win Kohima, May 5 (MExN): PowerComm eased to a comfortable 4-2 win over Morning FC in the ongoing Morning Premier League played at the Seikhazou Ground, Kohima on Friday. PowerComm broke to an early lead courtesy an 11th minute goal from Senpenlo. However, a lull ensued with both sides unable to make any headway as the first half ended 1-0. The restart saw an invigorated PowerComm side add three goals in less than 20 minutes. Gum rallied the PowerComm side scoring in the 52nd minute before Benjamin trebled the lead in the 65th minute.  However, Morning FC’s resilience with their pressing paid off when Bokato pulled a goal back in the 69th minute. Two minutes later though, Morning FC’s hopes of getting back in the game were dashed when Viposa scored for PowerComm to make it 4-1.  Morning FC continued to press and were rewarded with a late goal in added time. Shirep scoring in the 92nd minute as the match ended 4-2 in favour of PowerComm.   SASA Meeting on May 9 Kohima, May 5 (MExN): The Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) has convened its 1st Presidential meeting for the year 2017 on May 9 at 2:00 pm at SAPO Hall Mohonkhola, Kohima. A press release in this regard has requested all unit/village president/representatives to attend the meeting positively.   Tese Ward wins Pfutsero Inter-ward tournament Pfutsero, May 5 (MExN): Tese Ward emerged as the champions of the 4th Pfutsero Inter Ward Football Tournament conducted by the Pfutsero Town Sports Association.  Tese Ward edged Menyitsuda Ward in the final to defend the Late Neikhrope Ritse's trophy for the third time. Vekhosa Puro, Class 1 contractor, who was the guest of honour at the closing ceremony, gave away the prizes to the champions and other winners. The Best Disciplined Team was awarded to PWD ward while Chikrinasa Ward was awarded the Best Cheering Team. Individual awards were also given away on the occasion with Alung Gonmei of Menyitsuda Ward winning the Best Player award. Tese Ward’s custodian Lhiwete Koza was awarded the Golden Glove while the Golden Boot award was shared between Tese ward’s Johnny Ritse and Chisie Nyuson.   SSP Football C'ship concludes Peren, May 5 (MExN): The Annual Inter-House Football Championship 2017-18 of Sainik School Punglwa concluded on May 2. In the final of the Junior category, Patkai house edged Melak house via a tie-breaker after both sides were locked in a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time. In the penalty shootout, Patkai scored 4 while Melak could only manage 2 goals. The Football championship is played under two categories, Junior and Sub-Junior with six houses vying for the trophy in both categories. The Sub-Junior category was played in the first week of April while the Junior category got underway on April 27. In the sub-junior category, Japfu House finished top while Patkai House was placed second. However, in aggregate Patkai House with 9 points topped the list and lifted the overall Inter House Football trophy.
