Reiterating his vision of a developed Nagaland, the Governor said that he had full faith in the vibrant potential of the people of Nagaland – especially the youth of Nagaland to make this vision a reality. The Governor also mentioned that our youth country-wide have given evidence that they are aware of social, political and economic issues. “They have their own concepts and views and are unafraid of speaking about on them. This is how it should be”.
The Governor also stated that after observing the youth of Nagaland he had been impressed with their talent and the will to make their mark on their own. “On the eve of our 64th republic day I appeal to them to identify themselves with a cause. It could be environment or it could be education”, he stated.
He also stated that it was the versatility of our educated young that will determine the future of our state and country for they will provide the base for our development, progress and prosperity.
But these he stated will come only if there is peace “for it is peace that provides an environment that is conducive to development and progress”. The Governor was optimistic about having peace, - peace that is stable and permanent. “We all need to come together in our efforts to bring peace to our state. We shall do so through our democratic processes”, the Governor stated.
The Governor was also hopeful that all sections would benefit from the State’s economic well being through a balanced development of our agriculture and industry, “where our women enjoy a status of equality and opportunity, where our youth are provided opportunity to realise their true worth and where we are able to protect, preserve and propagate our unique culture and lifestyle and make our presence felt on the national stage”.
