Carewell School, a co-education institution celebrated its 25 years of existence at the school premises located in Duncan Basti, Dimapur on October 14 with Nagaland MLA and leader of National People’s party (NPP) legislators, Nuklutoshi Longkumer being invited as the chief guest.

Established in the year 1998, the school was initially located in Fellowship colony and later re-established to its present location and has classes up to the tenth level.

Speaking on the occasion, Longkumer mentioned that the development of a society in all spheres is the testimony of successful minds. Towards this end, he advised the students to be productive assets of their society for which they needed to clear direction, focus and to be dedicated to one’s efforts.

“In today’s generation the bottom-line of education is to learn, re-learn and continue to learn, which means one must be professional and master in any subject necessary for personal development,” he said.

He also viewed that the era of mere certificates and white collar jobs is over. Now one must be the best of the best in doing something worthy in life. As such, while viewing education, he called upon the students to have a broad understanding in the global context and have the competitive edge amongst their peers. At same time, he reminded them to have a strong cultural foothold and identity.

“The impressive record shown by this school shows that it delivering on the promises made at the time of its inception.  I am confident it will continue to have a reformed impact on the students,” he stated.

During the programme, the chief guest also took the time to felicitate several of the longest serving teaching faculty who had been with the institution since its humble beginnings.

Founder Director of the school, Prakash Dey, meanwhile spoke of the time when the school started from its humble beginnings way back in the year 1998. “Carewell School first started with 22 students and four staff members in a rented building at Fellowship colony,” he shared.

In the year 2001, the school moved to its present location which was at that time a marshy land with no room or electricity.

Gradually with growth, in 2013 the first HSLC batch of five students passed out with 100% results and since then they have managed to continue this record till day, he reported. He also appreciated the owner of the land, Rongsen Ao for leasing it to the school management.

“There are feelings of pride, achievements, development and marvellous ways the school has been fulfilling its mission of imparting holistic education to help build leaders of tomorrow,” the Director said.

Several performances were presented by the students to make the silver jubilee celebration a noteworthy experience for the parents and guests present.
