DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 20 (MExN): At the end of Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy match, Nagaland finds itself in a commanding position against Manipur, leading by 309 runs. Nagaland declared their second innings at 306 for 5, setting a daunting target of 405 runs for Manipur to chase for victory.
The highlight of Nagaland’s second innings was a brilliant knock from Nischal Dega, who scored 154 runs off 228 balls, laying a strong foundation for the team’s declaration. His performance was complemented by Hem, who contributed a patient 90 runs off 242 balls, frustrating Manipur’s bowlers throughout his innings. Captain Jonathan Rongsen also made a quickfire contribution, remaining unbeaten on 26 as Nagaland confidently declared their innings.
On the bowling front for Manipur, Bishworjit was the standout performer, claiming 3 wickets for 38 runs, while Ajay Singh and Kabir each picked up a wicket, helping to limit Nagaland’s scoring.
As Manipur commenced their second innings, they faced the challenging target of 405 runs. At the close of play on Day 3, Manipur reached 96 for 2 after 29 overs, requiring 309 runs on the final day to achieve an unlikely victory.
