The SMILE (Smart attendance Management and Informative Leaves) application will be implimented across all Government schools and establishments in Nagaland under Directorate of School Education (DoSE) from February 1.
In this connection, a notification from the Principal Director, DoSE has informed all teachers and staff to mark their attendance daily using the SMILE App kiosk at their respective schools and establishments.
To facilitate smooth functioning, the Data/HR Cell at DoSE, Kohima, will monitor attendance data and manage contingent issues, it said.
What is SMILE App?
The SMILE App is being implemented under the Nagaland Education Project–The Lighthouse (NECTAR) with an objective to improve system and school management.
As per the DoSE, the app uses advanced technology such as facial recognition, timestamping, and geo-fencing for marking attendance, leave application, and tracking its status.
The initiative aims to promote efficient administrative practices, improve data-driven decision-making, and foster a culture of accountability and transparency in the education system, it added.
The DoSE has also appeal all stakeholders for their kind cooperation and to contact HR Cell at 6909644519 for any issues regarding the app.
On Google Play Store, where the app is available for download, the SMILE app, owned by DoSE, is described as a “comprehensive solution for attendance tracking and leave management.”
The SMILE streamlines the entire process, providing teachers, staff, and administrators with a user-friendly platform to manage attendance and leaves effortlessly, it said.
Utilising advanced technology, including touch-free options such as blinking recognition, SMILE ensures accurate and efficient attendance tracking and makes marking attendance a breeze, it maintained.
As per the app info, it was released by the DoSE on May 8, 2024 and was last updated on November 14, 2024.
However , it was learnt that while a user has to download and individually use the app earlier, the present system would entail a common kiosk installed with a school or establishment.
It is unclear whether application of leaves and tracking of the status as well as reminders, notification and updates would be done personally or via the kiosk.
