Nagaland Tourism signs LoI with IRCTC, Hotel Polo Towers

The Department of Tourism Nagaland has signed ‘Letter of Intent’ (LoI) with the Hotel Polo Towers Pvt. Ltd, Polo Grounds, Shillong as well as the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to enhance the sector in the state. 

The LoI with Hotel Polo Towers is for re-development of Kohima Tourist Lodge, while with IRCTC, it is for opening of budget hotel in the State capital. It is expected to take-off soon, Nagaland Governor La Ganesan informed, during the customary address on the second day of the first session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).

The tourism department has   also initiated 'Nagaland Off-Road,' a first-of-its-kind travel experience in the world of adventure travel as a niche tourism product in collaboration with Wonder Beyond Boundary (WBB), he said. 

The Department also envisages taking up various capacity building programmes for stakeholders/unemployed youths by collaborating with Tata Consultancy Services and Verna Jyoti Educare as knowledge and learning partner, he added. 

Highlighting the tourism credentials of Nagaland, the Governor further said that 23rd Edition of Hornbill Festival registered 1, 40,299 tourists.

The State, endowed with beautiful landscape, colourful and vibrant culture, has the potential to become one of the most sought-after tourist destinations of the country, and the Department continues taking various initiatives towards this end, he maintained.
