Kohima, June 13 (MExN): As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen inclusive education practices across the State, the Inclusive Education (IE) component under Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, organised a comprehensive In-Service Training Programme for IE Resource Persons (RPs) and Coordinators, along with focused sessions on the development of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) and Exhibition showcasing innovative educational tools. The event was held at Morung Hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima on June 12.
A press release received here stated that the training focused on capacitating the IE RPs and Coordinators in inclusive pedagogical approaches, to equip participants with knowledge and skills for developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), to provide exposure to various therapeutic interventions that support children with special needs, to promote the use and creation of contextually relevant and child-friendly TLMs and to foster innovation through a competitive exhibition of self-developed TLMs.
Kopele Tepa, founder and proprietor of Bumblebee Inclusive School, led a sessions on development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and strategies for creating and managing an inclusive classroom environment that addresses the diverse needs of all learners.
Rukuse Sakhrie conducted a session on Music Therapy, emphasising its role in enhancing cognitive, emotional, and social development among children with special needs.
Practical demonstrations and hands-on training were conducted on Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Support strategies for children with Visual Impairment. These sessions were facilitated by trained specialists among the IE RPs and Coordinators, allowing participants to gain practical insights and engage in cross disability learning.
At the Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) Exhibition, IE RPs and Coordinators showcased creative and inclusive educational aids developed during the training. These materials were designed to be affordable, easy to use, and effective in meeting the unique needs of children with disabilities.
Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha and Principal Director, Department of School Education also visited the TLM Exhibition and interacted with the IE RPs and Coordinators. The officials commented them on their efforts in developing innovative TLMs and encouraged them to continue to work towards providing their services so that no child gets left behind.
The first, second and third position winners of the exhibition were Ngaugongbe of EBRC Athibung, Nungshisenla Ozukum of EBRC Zunheboto and Zumongi Kikon of EBRC Peren respectively.
