MALIGAON, FEBRUARY 27 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has conducted a coordinated anti-encroachment drives at multiple locations under its jurisdiction during a two-day campaign held in February 2026.
According to a press release issued by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), in close coordination with the Engineering Department, carried out the drives to safeguard railway infrastructure and ensure safe train operations. The initiative forms part of NFR’s ongoing efforts to protect railway land, enhance operational efficiency and strengthen infrastructure security.
In West Bengal, the drives covered the section between Nagrakata railway station and Chalsa railway station in Jalpaiguri district, and the yard area of Dalgaon railway station in Alipurduar district.
Similar eviction operations were conducted in Assam near Mariani railway station in Jorhat district and along the stretch between Guwahati railway station and Kamakhya railway station in Kamrup (Metro) district.
Altogether, 37 unauthorized structures were dismantled and six cement pillars removed from railway land during the campaign. Of these, 35 unauthorized structures were dismantled in a large-scale eviction drive between Guwahati railway station and Kamakhya railway station..
