Nagaland Transport Department to resume registration of vehicles

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The Transport Department, Government of Nagaland issued a notification on October 5, which informed that the temporary suspension of services pertaining to registration of vehicles and driving licenses is has now been lifted. 

The notice which was uploaded on Twitter by the MyGov Nagaland portal informed that the Nagaland Motor Vehicles Department will resume with immediate effect its function of registration of vehicles and issue of driving licenses to people. 

The notice meanwhile stated that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with regard to COVID-19 as issued by the State Government and subsequent periodical instructions as issued by the Government must strictly be adhered to. 

In another notification, the Nagaland Transport Department has notified that validity of Fitness Certificate, Permit (all types), Driving License, Registration on any other concerned documents whose extension of validity could not or not likely be granted due to lock- down and which had expired since February 1, 2020 or would expire by December 31, 2020, will be treated as valid till December 31, 2020. 

It informed that enforcement authorities are to treat such documents as valid till December 31, 2020 with no late fee/fine imposed during the aforesaid period. 

It may be noted that the department has also informed that with the Central Government making mandatory the fitment of FASTag on all motor vehicles under category M and N, sold on or before December 1, 207, the FASTag details will be captured while registering new vehicles or issuing fitness certificates to transport vehicles plying under national permit henceforth.
